Our school fulfills the Austrian curriculum in German and offers English according to the Cambridge Primary Curriculum as part of an all-day school. The program with integrated German and English lessons in the classroom and in everyday school life optimally prepares students for secondary schools with German and/or English as languages of instruction - with a focus on excellence and bilingualism.

School owners and history

The history of the site at Himmelstraße 11 dates back to the 14th century. Around 1350, the "Pöltinger Hof" was founded on this site.
The core of the current building probably dates back to the 17th and first half of the 18th century and was built as the Grinzing hunting lodge of Empress Maria Theresa (1730).

The combination of a picturesque and historic location with a forward-looking school model creates the perfect conditions for an interesting and varied school life. From the 2023/24 school year, Meridian will offer the Cambridge Primary Curriculum in addition to the Austrian primary school curriculum. Meridian was the first school in Vienna to be certified as a Cambridge Primary School.
MERIDIAN was the first school in Vienna to be certified as a Cambridge School. In addition to the Austrian curriculum for elementary school, which is followed in full, subjects based on the official Cambridge Primary Curriculum are offered as part of the all-day school.
The primary school "Meridian" is a private primary school with a legally regulated school type designation "primary school" and was founded on 28.05.2020. This was confirmed by the decision of the Vienna Education Directorate on 06.11.2020 on the basis of § 7 para. 1 and 2 PrivSchG. This means that the school is equivalent to and recognized by the Vienna Education Directorate in terms of organization, including the curriculum and facilities, with a similar public school.

The primary school is therefore an official primary school according to Austrian law. Compulsory education is fulfilled when the child attends an official school. From the 2023/24 school year, MERIDIAN was the first school in Vienna to be certified as a Cambridge School.
